19 January 2015

On 1 January 2015, the decree of the Government of the Slovak Republic No. 297/2014 Collection of Laws came into force.

The decree stipulates the amount of the minimum wage for 2015 as:

  • EUR 380.00 per a month for an employee with a monthly wage,
  • EUR 2.184 for every hour worked by an employee.

The increase in the amount of the minimum wage has a direct impact on the following employee entitlements guaranteed by the Labour Code:

  • the minimum wage entitlement rates (Section 120)
  • the minimum rate of wage surcharge for night work (Section 123)
  • the minimum rate of wage compensation for work performance in difficult conditions (Section 124)
  • the guaranteed lower limit of the wage for an inactive part of stand-by duty at the workplace (Section 96 (3))
  • the minimum amount of compensation for the inactive part of standby duty outside the workplace (Section 96 (5))
  • the minimum amount of an employee’s average wage established or applied (Section 134 (5))
